Virtus Portfolio Company Chemaf Completes Community Water Stations

KOLWEZI, DRC — For years, women and children in Mutakamari village spent three to four hours a day collecting water, often crossing a river to do it. That changed this year.

Chemaf's new water station in Mutakamari, home to roughly 100 households 15 minutes from the Mutoshi mine gate, gives the community safe, reliable access to clean water for the first time. The commitment was originally made in 2024 and fast-tracked after Virtus Minerals' acquisition of Chemaf in March of this year.

More than 200 community members attended the station's inauguration.

"We have lived here for generations. This is the first time a company has done something like this for us," said Mama Bea, a longtime Mutakamari resident.

Mutakamari is the first of five planned community water stations, with two more completed in Tshindjamba and Kabamba, and two further planned in Tshipuki and Kazembe Lukwesa.
